Due to the current system of notification and placement of public notice signs, some owners of property bordering the property to be rezoned are not made aware of the application to rezone, relevant meetings, etc. In order to have better communication with those homeowners, 3DCC, Inc. has presented the following proposed draft to the Henry County Board of Commissioners for their consideration and, hopefully, its addition into the county codes.
"The Planning Department of Henry County shall give notice by regular U. S. Mail to all property owners within 1,000 feet of the boundaries of the subject property petitioned for zoning change who appear on the tax records of Henry County as retrieved by the county's Geographic Information System. The notices shall be mailed a minimum 45 days prior to the hearing date. Renotifications by mail are not required when a petition has been deferred by the Board of Commissioners."
